Hi All, Finally found a website for some help and advice on these big beautiful horses, we are looking for a mare ( not too old) to be able to bring on ourselves as a general family hack and possible project for driving too. Live in Devon and already own a shire x arab mare who is a sweetie. Any advice, offers or general info welcome, regards, Jayne. |

Hi Jayne, Welcome to the forum, hope you enjoy it.
I don't know of anyone with a young mare for sale at the moment but will keep my ears open. |

Hi Jayne, I dont know your budget but I bought Murphy from Matthew King. I cant recommend him enough. Sheila his mum is great to deal with and I have had no probs and got a great deal. I am hoping to buy another colt from them in the future. Hope you find something Darren x |

It depends how much you want to pay. A good young mare, which would be priced for her breeding capability, will set you back a few thousand nowadays. Not sure if you want her broken already. |

Welcom Jayne
I had Ruby from Matthew Gregory King too. As Darren says, I can't recommend them enough. I am really pleased with her. |

Hi Everyone,
Thank you all for your helpfulness and advice, i will check out Matthew King website to see what is available, we have been looking for around two months and are even happy for a shire cross type, basically my partner is 6ft 4" and 16 st so obviously something up to weight is required. I'm really pleased i found this forum! Thanks all, T c, Jayne x |

hello - would you mind posting a pic of your shire x arab ?- i've been offered one but no idea what the cross may look like!!
I know a breeder in linconshire who is very reasonably priced - has both pure and cross breeds.
I have a shire x tb from him and was so pleased that i've gone back ten years later to look for my new youngster (unfortunatly it has to be a cross and he hasn't anything big enough) |

Hi Kizzy,
Will do my best to post a pic, asap, i think she looks more like a dales cross personally but when she is up and excited the arab look can appear!!! She hasn't got loads of feather either but a fair amount, barefoot and long mane/tail etc, she is lovely (but then i'm biased) .....your pic looks lovely too, very proud! x Jayne. |

She is beautiful and don't they make you laugh with that look. One of ours sees tigers and bears behind every hedge and really freaks out when she sees BT engineers down holes . People should have legs and when she can't see them she goes loopy. |

Hiya all, Thanks for the lovely compliments on Jessica, yes she is lovely there but obviously a big mud magnet at the moment with interesting mud dreadlocks?? Lovely!
Ok the info:
She is 11 yrs old, 16.1hh, and i have had her 9 yrs, difficult to see her feather but its about the same as a Clyds, as i had a gelding previously.
Not sure on the Arab x Shire but there is def shire in her, really chilled mare and like a big friendly dog.
Will try and put more pics up soon. x x Jayne. |

If you are coming up from Devon to look at any of Kings it may also be worth speaking to Arclid Clydes & shires (http://www.arclidshiresandclydesdales.com/e107/page.php?7) who produced my clydie gelding and Sedgemoor shires (http://www.sedgemoorshires.com/Horsesforsale.htm). I don't know what they've got at the moment but it might be worth a call. They are each one junction progressively further down the M6! |
