look on the shire horse society, theres a mare, shes got a shire x arab foal at foot and it says the mare is 2 years old! that means she was put in foal as a yearling?! surely thats not good

hi,yep it is right .just looked in the stud book.must have been an accident, the man who owned her has recently died,he was a very good horseman and i am sure he would not have served a yearling intentionaly.have heard of it happening when yearling colts and fillies have been run together.,you know what kids are like!

you must be right ted, no one in their right mind would serve a yearling. i look at my yearling now and shes huge but so immature in all ways i cant even imagine putting her to a stallion next year! surely that must stunt their growth/development? x

That's such a shame - it seems highly likely to be an accident doesn't it!

yes it must be morph, plus the foal is shire x arab which is a bizarre mix, i cant imagine a top shire breeder putting a arab on a shire mare?! must of been a crafty young arab colt that covered it? x

The Fillies are Newforests and the Rig was a vanner cob. I know of some people who where sold a stallion as first time horse they just sprayed his "jewels" with purple spray and said he had just been gelded. It all goes on down south!!! Surprised

no way!! how old were the fillies? is the owner going to have them aborted or just keeping his fingers crossed they cope with the pregnancies??
cannot believe that about purple spraying the horses nuts! i will be having a squeeze if i ever buy a gelding again! dont care what anyone thinks!

No she had the vet out who told her that a rig couldn't get mares pregnant, I would love to know where she got that from. the first foal was born 3 weeks ago and they are waiting on the second. It also transpires that the mare they bought for their kids to ride may also drop soon but different dad.
As for my other friend I did say are you sure he has been gelded and they thought it was swelling this horse ws a sorry state hooves like clowns feet and totally matted mane its a shame as they worked wonders with him but became to much for their daughter, anoher friend of mine bought him had him gelded and broken to drive, she sold him on as she got an offer she couldn't refuse and he went to a nice home.
As for the rig he was sold on as a rig.

We had her out once and she went on about what bad feet our mare had. we got the farrier to give his opinion and he said they where great feet and she was judging them on pony feet. He did his aprenticeship on Heavies. one of her colleages later confirmed she had good feet. Our horses don't like her.

I worked as a vet tech for 10 years and you would not believe the crazy/insane stuff that vets and animal people do to exploit animals and make a few bucks. So sad!
