I saw this article on Facebook today 23-10-13 about a sight-saving operation performed in England for 6000.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2009824/The-endangered-shire-horse-foal-6-000-pioneering-operation-save-sight-life.html

Owners cited were Donald and Jane McIntyre of Bristol

That's an amazing thing.
Not only does it help her, but I should think operations like this add to the store of knowledge for future horses.
Fantastic to see her enjoying life Very Happy

Wow! Just read the article!! That's fantastic!!! But the bit that I was really surprised at, that they reckon there is less than 1500 Shires in the country! Here where I live there is approx. at least 6 Shire Horse breeders, and some well known, so it was a bit of a shock to read that. I have a 19 yr old and a yearling, and the yearling has come on leaps and bounds since we got her, as she didn't have a lot done to her. She is a stocky kind not like the modern Shires of today!
