Being part Swedish I make a lovely apple cake, passed down through the family. It has almond essence and apples and flaked almonds and brown sugar on the top. Scrummy.

Yeah I know all the usual places I just wanted recommendations Wink

Ahhhh I could just eat something really nice but I am TRYING to cut down! I was really good yesterday! I refused chocolate from the machine when i colleague went and didnt have any sweet stuff or chips or anything all day! Homemade soup for tea, sarnie for lunch and a few biscuits for brekkie!

Also as we have started the 300 barrow poo picking challenge I should lose a little walking up and down hill with the barrow!

I read today that dark choc is not as bad for you as milk choc - big mistake reading that. Shocked Laughing I gave up smoking just over a year ago and piled on the pounds/stones. I have shifted loads but still have a bit to lose, so I know how difficult it is. I walk 3 to 4 miles a day, rain or shine, and I certainly don't hang about when I walk.

Arrggh I wish I did that much exersize nbut I guess I do a lot that I dont realise with the neddies! Running around playing etc.

I have roughly 6 stone to lose! I got weighed this morning and am 17st 2 which is 2lb less than last week but that isnt much at all really. It is if you are slim but not if you are as big as me.

I have just had an apple which I enjoyed so think I will have to get a store of them for if I feel peckish! On the other hand not snacking at all would be better! Laughing

Emma the slower you loose weight the better. Try taking a carrot or 2 work for when you feel hungry. Just pinch some of the horses carrots, sure they won't mind. Wink

I support Tracey's comment about the carrot.....Only thing is when the carrots are lying on the table beside the apple cake....its just the problem of co-ordinating the right hand in the right direction.. Laughing Laughing

My tip is not to deny yourself completely. Have one small treat a week, even if it is just a small choc bar or a scoop of ice cream, not more than once a week though; something to look forward to. Also you have to have a combination of healthy eating and exercise. Remember though if you deny your cravings completely it is going to be very difficult and you could fail. I agree about losing the weight slowly, about 2 lbs a week is right.

My problem is self control when at the petrol station when paying for fuel. Its always too easy just to pick up some kind of chocy or cake or something. Like Lizzy says Its a question of strong self control, and its not very easy...! Embarassed Laughing

. I made ice cream once when friends were coming round for dinner. I don't have an ice cream machine so made it by hand, which is long-winded as you have to keep getting it out of the freezer to stir it while it sets, but its well worth the effort!!!! Very Happy Is that how you made it Tracey?

Thanks Lizzy! That recipe is great Tracey - much simpler than the one I tried. Can't wait to give it a go - putting pieces of fudge in it sounds good, or any of your suggestions Lizzy!! Yummy!!!

I must just share something that I discovered this summer, and I can say Iv'e never tasted anything so delicious in my life..!

Melted dark chocolate bar in a saucepan.....but only just melted, not water runny.
Dip individual large strawberries in the chocolate so they are almost completely covered, then put them all on a tray covered with greaseproof paper then pop them all in the fridge for an hour or so.
When your are ready to eat, take a strawberry and dip it briefly into a glass of Harveys Bristol Creme and just close your eyes and 'enjoy'...mmmmmmm....!! They are sooooooo delicious really.. Very Happy

Oh good grief, give me a break Nick Shocked . That sounds delicious. I have had strawbs dipped in fondue choc. Does anyone remember fondue sets? Never had it with sherry too. Sounds very Christmassy.
