Just thought I would start this thread so I can see what you guys are doing whilst I am in lectures! I get updates on my phone
Well today I am off to rescue a kitten! A friend of mine got her but their pooch (think she is an Alaskan Malamute) keeps attacking her and they are afraid someone is gonna get hurt Anyway now they have made the decision that she has to go, they want her gone asap (I can totally understand, been there before) and soI am off to pick her up after uni today. I dont know what she looks like I just know she is 9 weeks old and tabby.
After the bad episodes with our other cats, this one is gonna stay in most of the time!
Other news - our new haylage has turned out to be naff. Following our second supplier pulling out as he doesnt think he is gonna have enough for himself, we found another supplier but whern it was delivered on Monday it was mouldy on the outside but teh farmer thought it was ok and offered no money back etc. As a result we are now having to find yet ANOTHER supplier!
I have found some lovely stuff which is in 4ft square bales and is the best quality EVER! I am just unsure how long it will last them as it is a lot smaller than the other bales. The horses from Emmerdale eat it (the chap who owns them is the haylage mans father-in-law!).
It is £23 a bale plus deliver (works out around £24 a bale) but I think they may need 2 bales a week
Am gonna buy 6 bales and see how long it lasts (6 is the least they will deliver). Wish us good luck!!!
AND FINALLY!
Just wanted to end with a good old reunion. I have found Ferg's dad! Unfortunately he died the year Ferg was concieved but I now know what he looked like at least!
Here he is:
Now then what are you all up to? |

Thanks guys!
He actually has brilliant breeding. Have spoken to a few clydey people now who have said he would be great in shows once his legs are sorted.
Just sat in a traffic jam at harewood and it is a beautiful morning. Seen 6 red kites so far and the views areAmazing.
Feel all relaxed! |

Well I just thought I would give you a brief update as to why I haven’t been on here much again!
Basically I have an additional 3 bodies living in my house, not including the kitten I picked up last week!
To try and cut a long story short, I went to look at some other kittens at the weekend to find a companion for Dizzy (the 9wk old I have already mentioned) and when I got there the kittens were in a bit of a state. The mum had left 3 weeks ago and the people had been hand rearing them. They had a 3 year old daughter who was playing with themlike toys and they looked to be only 4/5 weeks old. They were very weak.
I decided to take all of them but they would only take 2 as they wanted to keep the runt of the litter. I tried to persuade them but they wouldn’t have it. Anyway on getting the other 2 home I realized that they were in need of a lot of tlc and was quite worried about their wellbeing. I texted the girl who I bought them from and told her if she changed her mind to ring me.
The next morning I had a phonecall to say their cat was bullying her and that I could come and get her. When I picked her up she was very lethargic and weak so I kept her warm and gave her proper kitten formula milk. She seemed to pick up and the next day was as hungry as ever but still not well looking. I went up to the field as the dentist was coming to look at the neddies and when I got home the little girl I had got was in a coma. I thought she was dead at first bit she was still breathing. I rushed them all to the vets and it was not looking good. He said he didn’t think she had any chance of recovery and that she had contracted a virus before she had come to me. I asked him to try anyway and so he gave them all a shot of antibiotics and kept them all to keep an eye on them.
When I phoned later, the 2 I had initially brought were doing well, eating and playing but she had got worse. She wasn’t going to make it. She died at tea time that evening at the vets.
I brought the kittens home and just daren’t go near them. What if it was my fault? What if I had done this to her? What if the other 2 go the same way? I rang the vets and he reassured me that she didn’t get in the state she was in from me having her, he told me to keep an eye on the other 2 but told me that whatever was wrong with her had started before she came to me.
Anyway, I have been in a panic for the last few days but now the kittens appear to be doing really well! We have named one Alfred but the other (who is female) still has no name, so she is baby no-name at the moment. Pics to follow….
Who is the 3rd new visitor I hear you ask? My son! It is a long story but my son lived with his dad but his dad has a bit of a drink/violence problem which is escalating and so Noel came to me on Sunday evening. We have had to try and get him a school sorted etc as it wasn’t planned but now he is settled and started the new school yesterday! I am very pleased as it is actually in the top 5% of state school in the UK! The move has caused some problems with me and my OH but we are hoping to get through it.
I have had a real emotion week, not to mention busy, and the assignment which is due in today will not be going in. I have an extension to push me on til Monday but I don’t think it will do much to be honest as I am far from completing it.
What a week! |

Your man sounds like the complete opposite to mine. If I brought home a person to take care of he would be fine about it, if I brought home any animal waifs and strays he would pack his bags and leave. |

hi Guys, dont know what quality your haylage is but we buy large round black plastic covered bales which are usually very good for £14. Our large bales of hay are £12. BIt of a bargain here in Devon, saying that Binks eats at least bale herself in a week of Hay or 3/4 of the Haylage so not too bad. The rain and mud is getting me down and I have succumbed to rugging Binks as each morning it is like brushing a double decker bus! I dont have the energy or time sometimes for it. Hope life perks up for you all. take care |

Hugs from me too Emma. Hope you can sort your dog out Jack, I take it he has hip displaysia. Hope it sorts itself out for you,I have been down that route.
Our land owner told us today that our horses have to come in because of all the rain and the fact that it is wrecking his land. Was hoping to get a few more weeks especially as my friend has just had a knee replacement so I have her horse to take care of too, looks like I am getting up at 4.40am again from Monday onwards!!! Don't you just love the winter months!! |

Jack my heart goes out to you, take care and hope your dog stays with you for some time yet. xx
Ruby I am waiting for the call from our farmer about getting ours in, the fields are starting to get very sticky muddy. The weather is not good for next week so I suspect that will be the end of them being outside until Spring. |

Jack lots of hugs to you. I keep saying I will have no more dogs because it is that heartbreking when they pass away but I keep having them. The same goes for horses |

my field has turned boggy luckly i have use of family farm so have moved them to a field it is on a hill and full of grass so they are not eating their hay. The field is bone dry and there feet are lovely and white again should see them through the winter.
When spring comes my field will have to be sprayed off it is riddled with buttercups and there seems to be no grass will reseed and fertalise it to |

Dolly and henry are inseprable joey can be a bit of a bully when the hay nets are out but luckily they are back on grass now so saving money. Will have to see what happens in spring when dolly starts to come in season as henry wont get cut untill then. A couple of weeks ago i put a bridal and mouthing bit on henry and long reigned him he will walk and trot with a gentle tap on the bum with the whip, I only do about ten minutes with him each time as he is only 18mnths they cover some ground when trotting ill post some pics in their new field later |

Hi Guys, can anyone help me out with some info please? I am hoping to attend the Spring Show 20th and 21st March 2010 at Peterborough. Does anyone know of anywhere cheap but cheerful I can stay? Is there a Holiday Inn nearby or similiar? Thanks in advance |

What horrible weather
We have patio doors from the living room to the gardern and we have dug out the footings to build a step. At the moment with all the rain it looks like a mote. I think we will have to invest in a draw bridge if it carries on raining
I think it is going to rain the most of this week
I hope everyone is ok and the rain isn't causing you all problems apart from wet fields |

Sorry - I went to the show this year, but can't remember any hotels nearby. Best thing would be to search on the postcode I think, and see what comes up??
Tracey - yes, the weather is VILE!!!! Did you see the rain at around midday - the sky was that dark, I thought it was time to go home from work
Fields a mess, (as everyone's is), but thankfully nothing more than that (unlike Cumbria!!) |

There's a Premier inn not far away, best if you google it but I also think the Shire Horse web site gives details of local accommodation.
As for fields - is that what they are called!!! Mine look like the Somme!! |

Am glad to be back from Germany, as I missed my animals, but I did enjoy myself.
I also rode Angel on Saturday. I was quite surprised with myself, as I haven't felt like it since Kiz died, and I was really excited. We had a nice 5 mile "amble", thankfully before the rain started!! It was good to "be back", in more ways than one |

Actually, I have 3 pics yes. Taken last Thursday at lunchtime when it was a lovely day, and I managed to get out for a walk.
The offices are in a little village called Hoppecke (name of company),
which is just outside Brilon.
This is the road, with the offices being the start of the red building on the right
The next two is of the stream just by the offices - it was lovely standing there!!
