On hot days my boy really sweats up (today was dripping), same in summer he sweats and needs a blast with hose.

For this reason, and probably really stupid about even thinking it, but would i need to give him a clip so he can get through a warm summer with a rug on??

I have never had such a 'warm' horse and really sorry if i sound so dim.
im off to hide in dark cupboard Embarassed

We used to clip our horse out (he was PTS last year) all year round, he just used to get so sweaty in the field if it was hot and he loved having his summer hair cuts Very Happy . Lottie has been sweating up in this heat, especially as her winter coat is coming through Sad

I clipped my boy yesterday, full clip apart from legs and today doing wagon rides he was still dripping, he's a 'hot' horse and the young one is too, he's been sweating in his stable, but i don't want to resort to clipping him just yet!

thank god you two replied i was really starting to worry the question was so stupid no one was going to answer.
its good to know if he is far to hot next year i can clip and people shouldn't think im mad, though still a lil worried as lives out so it would be abit of rug changing depending on weather, as long as he is comfy its worth it.

I think Lottie is going to need a little hair cut soon now she is being ridden, I hope she enjoys it! My other one used to go to sleep during his hair cut appointment Laughing

i will have to invest in a eletric toothbrush to get him use to the noise/vibration. though i would have to do a full clip with him as he does get a hot bum too, only place that is ok is back Shocked
